Do not consider only the total floor area. Also count separate rooms where fleas are noticed or where the pet spends most of its time.
Fleas are small blood-feeding insects most commonly associated with dogs, cats and their surroundings. Visible adult fleas are only part of the problem — other life stages may be hidden in carpets, cracks, furniture and pet resting areas.
The flea life cycle consists of egg, larva, pupa and adult. Removing only the visible adult fleas does not always mean the infestation has been resolved.
